This week/weekend Ashley and I met her parents in Melbourne! We spent a day just walking around the city and exploring. We hit up all the malls too, of course! That night we also met up with our friend Charlie who went to PC with me. It was fun to see someone from home...how random!
Friday, we took a tour to see the Penguins at Phillip Island. Every night, hundreds to thousands of them come up from the sea and walk home to their families. It's pretty cool! The penguins are not normal sized ones. They are 12 inches tall or less. They are precious.
That day we also went to a farm where we could feed kangaroos. They were really sweet and gentle. There were even 3 joeys that we got to play with!
The next stop was a koala park. There, we were able to get close to the koalas, but not touch them. One of the koalas came out of the tree and sat on the rail of the board walk. She sat there for 15 minutes and just let people take tons of pictures with her...it was so funny!
Saturday, we took another bus tour on the Great Ocean Road to see the 12 apostles. The Great Ocean Road was built by soldiers after WWI. We made a bunch of stops to see good views. The 12 apostles are 12 rock formations in the ocean by the cliffs. There are now only 9.5 because 3.5 of them broke! We also explored a little cave at one of the stops, so that was fun!
It went by really fast, but it was really fun! Now, I'm back trying to get some work done! A group of us just booked a trip to Fraser Island for next weekend so I'm excited about that!
